I mentioned a while ago that I was working on something. Some assumed it was a project. Well, in a way, but not in any artistic way. This is more of a personal thing.

I am applying for an assistance dog! I sent in my application, along with the required doctor's and personal recommendations, at the end of October and waited. And I got over the first hurdle, so Thursday afternoon I'll be at ADAI in Sylvania, Ohio, just outside Toledo, for my interview. I'm taking the bus to Toledo Wednesday and then going back on Friday so Jim and I can have some time together, too.

It's something I've been wanting for a while, and I probably would never have found this place if it hadn't been for meeting Jim, and then checking out what Toledo has to offer and first visiting the site for The Ability Center of Greater Toledo, which is their Cener for Independent Living.

Please, light a candle, say a prayer, and keep a good thought that I do well in this interview and get approved for an assistance dog. It would be such a blessing to my life.

:D this is fantastic news! My wife and I are crossing our digits for you. (She has a bunion so her toes are permanently crossed for good stuff like this!)

She also has cerebral palsy, and a service dog of her own! When she was more disabled before botox treatments he'd pull her chair, help her up from falls, and such. Now, he helps her balance, keeps people away from her in public (gently - just with his body and presence, 'cause a good stiff breeze would knock her down).

Life changing :D

Yes, that's the type of stuff my dog will help me with, including picking up dropped objects.
