So, with 2010 being here, my one very broad resolution is to treat myself better. Yes, that encompasses a lot. It could have been broken down into many resolutions, but I feel my chance for success will be better this way. Granted, it's been ongoing for the last several years that I have been treating myself a lot better. But, like with dieting, it's an ongoing process.

So, with that being said, today I spent $5.00 to sign up for a geek matchmaking service run by one of the people I follow on Twitter, @geeksdreamgirl,called (surprisingly enough) Geeksdreamgirl.com. [livejournal.com profile] serok42 pointed me toward her Twitter and her site some time ago. But I finally got brave enough to sign up for her GeekMMM (Geek Monthly Matchmaking Mailer), which is $5.00 for Geek Girls, $10.00 for Geek Guys. What happens is that after you pay and submit your profile information, she will write up a nicely worded profile for you, and once a month there's a newsletter that goes out featuring the Geek Guy and Geek Girl of the month.

Unfortunately, I had some technical difficulties with the form, but she told me just to email her with the stuff I put on the form. So, minor frustration and a little more time, but it will be worth it, I hope. It's a start in the right direction, at least. The GeekMMM also often has coupon codes for discounts off their higher priced services, so if needs be, that may be something I might look into in the future. But I figured this matchmaking mailing with a custom written profile, for $5.00, what have I got to lose?

But, small a purchase as this is, this is big for me. It means I'm ready to move forward in that area of my life, even if moving forward with this is very much scary. And moving forward is in keeping with treating myself better.

I'm also going to look into getting my hair cut soon. Probably not this week, since it's so bitter cold out. The only place I can foresee myself going this week, unless the weather improves, is to my doctor appointment with Dr. H. on Friday. That one is a definite. But, it is so long and thick, and of the kind of texture that just knots as soon as you look at it, so it's getting too hard to take care of. So yes, this goes into the category of treating myself better, too. Very much so. Albeit a scary move for me, too.

2010 is a bright, shiny new year. I hope it's full of many blessings for me.
